Who is intresting

When i say intresting, that does not mean that you need to be a celebrity. As long as i find you or your blog worthy of atleast my intrest i consider you an intresting person. I plan to interview people rather than just talk to them as such.

Dimdim works like this

Mr d d Ganguly replied as follows

Dear Ajit,
Thanks for your post. You had asked about how the company works.

It’s really very simple: great team and a compelling vision.

The vision for Dimdim is simple: we see a world in which organizations of all sizes will have access to web collaboration software. We have started this journey with a focus on web meeting software that allows rich-media real-time collaboration. Our Open source strategy enables us to distribute our technology pervasively. Our product has already been downloaded 7,800 times in just one and a half months. After the community downloads the product their feedback about the product is even more valuable. Community members report bugs, submit feature requests, and delve into the code to point out why the software behaves in a certain manner. The relationship with the community is exhilarating. We feel that we are part of a much larger team
– the Dimdim Team.
Best wishes.
ddg

I hope he succeds in his endeavour and Let Open source flourish.

Dimdim:The worlds freeweb confrencing company

Dimdim is an open source initiative that provides a web confrencing solution. In this post we try to meet DD Ganguly, one of the founders and presently CEO of DimDim. And the reason for selecting him, and i quote

" For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur. The problem was that no one in my middle-class Indian family had ever been a businessman. My family was not discouraging but the entire environment was. “Business is not for you”, is the mantra I heard growing up. Get security. Get a job, preferably a “secure” government job. Don’t take risks. These messages get into one’s psyche. And when I finally started my first business I found myself in the clutches of fear. I searched the libraries for a book on the subject of managing entrepreneurial fear but found nothing."

He did overcome his fears and start his company. What i found intresting was that they used the idea of community based product development from step one, including gathering of info about the required product. I am requesting DD Ganguly as is our custom. Hope he finds time to blog.

The million dollar home page

A simple idea can become a great one..if you are lucky and work towards your goal. Well that can be said about Alex tew who created the

http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com

it is advertisement site. in this site he has sold pixels to different people at the rate of 1$ per pixel. It gives the page a kind of good look. He hopes to create internet history by maintaining the site forever. But since he happens to be a million dollar person--mostly called a millionaire or something he will qualify as a celebrity. so it will not be possible to meet him. Any way i will put up a link that shows the pixel availability.

Million Dollar Pixel Page progress report

to give you an idea of how the home page looks i am putting a screen shot of the same.

To define few things

After getting of to a good start..hopefully..I would like to define the meaning of a "meeting".

A meeting of an int-resting person is thought to have occured if
  • I convey him/her a message and that person reply'
  • I meet a person directly and coverse with him/her
  • You (i.e, anyone) recommend a person to be int-resting

Various other criteria will be defined as we move along. So by these criteria we conclude that we have had a meeting with Nikhil-from the simple leaf. So again i begin my search for intresting people.

Humble words from a great man

The Simple Leaf said...
Hello Ajit,Thanks very much for the kind words! I am flattered, but I assure you I am not a "great man"! And I'm probably not that interesting either! I'm just a normal guy who decided he wanted to create something from scratch. Thanks again for stopping by our website and blog. Keep the comments coming. We're always delighted to hear from folks around the world!Cheers!Nikhil

The Journey Begins

I have always thought of people with intresting jobs. Say how nice it would be to be a food taster!! eat delicious food and get paid for that too. And there are others who just do what they like the most irrespective of what challenges they face. Ok may be many of us are doing things that we like. I have always wanted to meet these people. Are they really happy of taking up their passions as their proffessions. And of course there are others who have become celebrities just by doing their hearts wishes. Although it is near immpossible to meet all of them.. this is an attempt to talk to atleast some of them. Since i want to do everything methodically..!! i will set myself some criteria as to whom i should consider intresting## As i move along i will make these criteria clear to myself<<<

Sayonara/by bye/phir milenge///..

Nikhil Roychowdhury, Founder-CEO and President of The Simple Leaf

So My quest begins. Although I could not find any food tasters as such.

I did find Nikhil Roychowdhury.

Oh! no he is not a food taster but the founder CEO and president of a tea company. To get an insight into the life of the great man visit
him at
http://greatganesha.wordpress.com/2006/09/26/chai-20-part-one/

This and the next part of his interview tells a lot about this man who dared to take up his passion as his profession. The following statememnts of his made me include him in this blog.

"As clichéd as it sounds, I wanted to live a more balanced life, enjoy my family and friends, and not feel like I was owned, so to speak, by a corporation. It’s hard to put into words, but I just had to do it. I didn’t want to be on my death bed saying “I wish I had spent more time at the office”

As will be my custom from now on i will request this person to tell me (or us) a brief snippet about himself, after all he is an intresting person..Hopefully he will find time to blog.
